Sweet Cosmos

Sweet Cosmos
5" x 7" original oil painting
gallery wrapped stretched canvas

Available

Cosmos flowers from my garden
bring their colorful freshness
to this vintage & tarnished
lidded silver sugar bowl.

The ornateness of the sugar jar
handles and lid,
plus a clipping of cosmos
in front of the jar,
and some reflections of
the flower hues in the
shiny surface of the bowl.
Together they bring added detail to this
lovely traditional still life painting.

Gentle Light

Gentle Light
16" x 20" original oil painting
stretched canvas

Available

This is an actual place near our home.
A very beautiful and peaceful place.
It's a lagoon with a bridge
fashioned after Claude Monet's
garden bridge in Giverny France.

I painted this plein air just as
Claude Monet would have done.

This is a painting that I had listed
before, but it is the essence of summer
so I hope you enjoy seeing it again.

I was inspired by these petite beautiful
pansies. Every painting has a spot that is
just what  the artist was aiming for.
In this painting I'm pleased with the
overall feeling of the painting, but I especially
like the the soft fallen petals and their
colorful shadows.

Epiphany Arts Festival

Blue & White Tea Pot & Grapes
8" x 10" original oil painting

Sold
Cardinals In Holly
8" x 10" original oil painting
Sold
I have been entering the Epiphany Arts Festival for several years.
It is a classy, high quality fun show featuring
different types of art and high quality crafts....
quilts, jewelry, furniture, sculpture, and more.
Artworks are displayed throughout the Narthex and Sanctuary
of the church. The show opens with a wonderful
opening reception and ends a month
later with a spectacular musical event featuring
a multitude of the church's choirs and
other invited guest performances.
I have included a few photos, but there
were many other performers and artworks...
too many to show.
The church's statement of purpose...
"The Christian Season of Epiphany opens with
the light of the stable star and the gifts of the Magi.
The offering of our commitments and talents
are manifestations of God's light and thus they
become a major theme for these weeks.
Epiphany occurs as nature begins to move from
shorter and darker to longer and brighter days.
It is in this special time that the church seeks
to celebrate the artists among us who
offer their insights and talents to the world.
Through the visual arts we hope to promote a
more profound sense of beauty and
greater communication with our
Creator, nature and each other.
In this way we expand our veneration of
God's creation, our self-understanding
and our attention to the world."

Standing beside one of the paintings before
it left for it's new home.

Creating heavenly sounds!
A visiting choir that performs each year.
Behind is the pipe organ that is superbly
played by a young man.

I was sitting in a chair by the window
when I heard a sharp tapping on the glass.
I turned to see what the noise was and
this friendly American Goldfinch was
on the window ledge looking in at me.
As I came closer to the window he
flew into my lavender flowers
about ten feet away.
He came back several times to tap
on the glass and then fly into
my lavender plants.
What a pleasant surprise and
a nice little blessing to start the day.

and is considered a design icon

Orchids number twice as many
 species compared to birds
and an amazing number of people
enjoy growing orchids ..
This lovely Orchid stem brings
its beautiful flower blooms
and accompanying leaves to the painting.
