Cobalt and Rose

Cobalt and Rose
5"x7" original oil painting on gallery wrap linen

I guess I could say blue is my favorite color,
although I have many "favorite colors".
I seem to be drawn to cobalt dishes and bottles.
Vintage items are especially nice.

A very high pallet (light color range) for me.

to paint in darker colors.

Morning Call

Morning Call

This is a fine quality, limited edition print.
Image size 7"x9" Paper size 8.5"x10.5"
Morning Call is from an oil painting that I created
while in the Berkshire area of Massachusetts.
The Rhode Island Red chickens that I met
were so tame, they would
come up to me for a quick pet.

I have limited this edition to only 100 prints,
each one hand-signed & numbered.
Included with each print is a Certificate of Authenticity.

I have personally selected a beautiful quality, acid-free,
heavy paper with archival properties to prevent
yellowing and deterioration.
The archival paper has fiber flecks creating a unique
and rich appearance.
Also, I have used long lasting colors to provide many years of enjoyment.
Also note, the djsepos-studio watermark will not appear on your print.

Fall Color, Hydrangea

Fall Color, Hydrangea
5"x7" oil on linen, gallery wrap...framing optional
Another painting I'm pleased with!
The softness and lost and found edges are my favorites.
I try to do that on every painting, but this one came
out just the way I wanted.
I'm also happy with the shadows and light.

You would never know this is a Nikko Blue Hydrangea.
As the days become cooler the colors change
back to the soft greens.
Then the burgundy get stronger as the nights get colder.
God planned beauty for every season.

Creamer with Lemons

Creamer with Lemons
6"x6" oil on linen, gallery wrap...framing optional
I think artists are hardest on themselves, so it's a
great feeling to be happy with a painting.
When the porcelain looks like solid porcelain,
the gold edge is shiny, and lemons are juicy, it's
a great painting day.
That doesn't always happen. Most of the time it's a struggle.
Very pleased with this one.
I sure hope you like it too!

Candy Mums

Candy Mums
5"x7" oil on linen, gallery warp...framing optional
A colorful fun painting from a different point of view.
Instead of looking straight at the still life, this one is
from overhead.
It creates a whole different feeling.
A little less formal, a bit more casual.

Two Bartletts and a Bosc

Two Bartletts and a Bosc
5"x7" oil on linen, gallery wrap...framing optional
Lots of warm light softly falling on these pairs.
The Red Bartlett and the Bosc on the right have a dull
soft texture. The other Bartlett has a shiny skin, thus the high
reflection of light. It's always interesting to show the different
surfaces and the way the light reacts to them.

For the Love of Roses

For the Love of Roses
8"x10" oil on linen, gallery wrap

A bit of a twist with this painting, I used one of my
hand painted porcelain pieces for the subject matter.
I have been a china painter for many years...about 16.
It's a very different medium from oil painting.
The china paint goes on in thin layers that have to be
fired in the kiln at about 1400*.
This rose bowl vase has about 10-12 firings.
It also has 24K gold on the feet and the top edge.
Thought it was kind of a fun idea with one of my last pink roses.

Butterflies Waiting

Butterflies Waiting
5"x7" oil on linen, gallery wrap...framing optional
This is an effort to capture the deep rich colors of the
Buddleia or Butterfly Bush.
I paired it with a white vase so the white would
pick up the reflected colors.
It really does attract the butterflies as well as hummingbirds.
One of those small quiet pleasures in life.

White in the Middle

White in the Middle
8"x10" oil on linen, gallery wrap...framing optional
A new pitcher in town!
I found the small blue ware pitcher on a recent shopping trip.
I thought it was a nice addition to my pitcher collection.
It's not a very big collection, you will probably see them
in various paintings along the way.
I thought these three made an interesting group.
I like the tension between them with the placement of each.
They are very different whites with the left one being warm and the
other two being very cool.
One stands a little too close to the edge and the Spode stands a bit aloof.
The middle one almost looks like it kisses the blue ware.
Hope that give a little personality to them.

Burled Wood Box and Orchid

Burled Wood Box and Orchid
8"x10" oil on linen, gallery wrap...framing otional
Great warm colors and subtle lighting.
I enjoyed painting this because it gives the look
Ralph Lauren my favorite designer.
I never paint things to "go" with decor.
I just paint things I like and hope others like them too.
It's more about how light falls across the surface
and the way colors effect each other.
Trying to make cloth look like cloth, wood look like wood, etc.
It's always a challenge that never gets boring.

Hydrangea and Ribbon

Hydrangea and Ribbon
5"x7" oil on linen, gallery wrap
The Blue Nikko has turned colors due to cooler nights.
I love this bush and it's changes.
First it starts out a soft green then goes to near cobalt blue.
As the nights get cooler it turns back to the soft green with a bit of burgundy.
If left on the bush the colder it gets the deeper the burgundy.
