The Fallen

The Fallen

5" x 7" original oil painting

gallery wrapped stretched linen canvas

A richly colored, burl finish, wooden box
shares the golden warm browns & oranges
of 'the fallen' autumn oak leaves and acorn.
Enhanced by an evening background.

Sweet Cosmos

Cosmos flowers from my garden
bring their colorful freshness
to this vintage & tarnished
lidded silver sugar bowl.

The ornateness of the sugar jar
handles and lid,
plus a clipping of cosmos
in front of the jar,
and some reflections of
the flower hues in the
shiny surface of the bowl.
Together they bring added detail to this
lovely traditional still life painting.

These blue & white hydrangea ..
have a supporting cast of
pink Astilbes to create a feathery combo
and pretty Liatris which join in to add balance
to this perennial bouquet from my garden

The clear glass vase enables
you to enjoy the detail of both
the stems and the setting beyond

Another blooming stem
is lying patiently in front of the vase,
ready to join the rest of the cast.

I guess I'm just hooked on blue and white.

Every time these white hydrangea come into bloom,

I can't think of a better combination than to

put them into a blue and white vase

or tea pot.

I want to thank my followers for being patient

between postings. Computers are wonderful

when they are working!

One of my favorite flowers in my garden

are the Nikko Blue Hydrangeas.

They are a pleasure to paint and add

so much beauty to our home.

The soft shadows and intense lighting

through the glass vase give this

painting it's excitement.

Lots of drama in this painting.

Dramatic lights and darks and rich colors.

I found this wonderful vintage

cobalt & metal jam jar on ebay!

It's a great addition to my cobalt and

This is an actual place near our home.
A very beautiful and peaceful place.
It's a lagoon with a bridge
fashioned after Claude Monet's
garden bridge in Giverny France.
I painted this plein air just as
Claude Monet would have done.

This is a painting that I had listed

before, but it is the essence of summer

so I hope you enjoy seeing it again.
