We are fortunate to have several cardinal

They are a pleasure to watch.

Close up of woolies

I drive past this small farm from
time to time and always love to find the sheep
out in the pasture. This day they were hanging out
near the barn. The vintage barn is a bit
tattered, but still very charming,
especially with the wooly sheep near.

It represents understanding and it is seen as one of the purest ornamental flowers.
Its magnificent bloom is a bouquet of dedication and
it can be described as heavenly beautiful and charming."

And there are people who have
a devotion (a strong affection) to enjoy
and collect Spode for its beauty.

When I saw this bread of sheep,
I couldn't resist painting all the ringlets
of fine quality wool.
In the near future we plan to take a day
trip to a farm about an hour away
to capture more inspiration.
Look for more wooly sheep this fall,
if not before.

This hand-painted sugar jar

Peonies represent wealth,
honor, romance and love.
They also are regarded as the
omen of good fortune
and a happy marriage.

Peonies are another one of my favorite flowers.
This particular color of peony
smells better than roses.

I especially love the way the
light brightened as it passed through
the glass vase and water.

Hydrangea time again, I'm sure you can tell.
I have been working on several hydrangea paintings
and will be posting more soon.
The unique thing about this painting,
it's a painting within a painting.
I also painted on the porcelain pitcher.

Even though it's a white cloth, the shadows
and lights have plenty of reflected colorful light.

Thirty-some years ago, we toured the
Fenton Art Glass factory and watched
vases like this one, and other glass items,
being hand made by skilled glassworkers.

After seeing each piece of raw glass become
an artistic creation... I could hardly wait
to visit the gift shop at the factory...
This vase came home with me... and since then...
every time I put flowers into this vase...
I have fond memories of visiting the Fenton Factory.

The Fenton family still offers 'free' factory tours...
They just celebrated the companies 105th birthday !

Lilac blooms with their lovely hues
and pleasing green leaves
are a wonderful bouquet overflowing
this Fenton glass vase of decades ago.

Enjoy the varied hues of lilac,
warm lighting, and soft shadows
in this traditional still life painting

Purple lilacs symbolize
"first love"

The purple lilac story
goes back to Greek mythology...
Syringa is the scientific name of the purple lilac...
The story is that Syringa was a Greek nymph
that was being chased in the woods by the
greek god, Pan. Syringa, to escape Pan,
turned herself into the purple lilac....
