The image colors on my monitor
seem to be a bit stronger than in real
life on this painting. the oranges are
lighter in person. The cobalt is close
to the actual piece.

I once again am trying to be loose,
but I guess my basic personality is
fighting all the way. I tend to want
it perfect. Why not perfectly loose!
Anyway, I added some pallet knife
areas (in the above detail photo)
especially to the oranges and
I think it adds some character and
suggestive passages.

Sweet Dreams

Resting upon the blue and white vase,
the white orchid appears to have found
a comfortable resting place. I still love
all things blue and white.

This painting has a wispy quality
to the orchid petals... done with several
glazes and layers. At the same time the porcelain
came out looking like porcelain with reflections
and transparency. I really like how this
painting came out. Hope you like it too.

Potted Violets

Potted Violets

Trying to be loose and suggestive.
At the same time I'm letting the whites
pick up the glow of the surrounding colors.
The light hitting the clay pot is very different
than the light on porcelain...a very dull
surface, so no extreme reflection points.

White Orchid

One of the art groups I belong
to has a
challenge every now and then.
The newest
is to paint something in just white.
I really like painting white because of the

reflective quality and how it picks
up the
surrounding colors.
So, a white orchid in
a white vase
seemed to meet the challenge.
